Corporate Social Responsibility

As a socially responsible company, Elia shows its commitment to society, the environment and science education.

Elia’s job is to ensure transparent and non-discriminatory access to the power transmission system. Not content with simply carrying out this task, Elia wants to do much more by playing a social role in the community. You can find full details of our CSR policy on Elia Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility.

Elia demonstrates its commitment to society through the Elia Fund, run by the King Baudouin Foundation. By supporting projects facilitating access to leisure activities for people with reduced mobility (in the broad sense), the Fund is actively contributing to building a society in which everybody, without discrimination, can shine. See Elia Fund for full information about this and a list of the beneficiaries.

The Group participates or supports various initiatives, including some organised by our staff (e.g. the ‘Climbing for Life’ event and raising funds for Télévie by organising a day when people climb one of our electricity pylons). You can learn more on Initiatives' page.

Technical and science education are of key importance for Elia because the training that students receive today determines the pool of talent we have to work with tomorrow. Against this backdrop, Elia gives young people the chance, in a number of guises, to find out more about its activities and businesses. See Stakeholder Management for full details.

Lastly, Elia is involved in the development of renewable energy and is taking concrete measures to limit CO2 emissions in its own facilities and activities. You will find further information about this in People & the Environment.
