Daily capacity: Belgium - France

This page contains the daily capacity forecasts and allocations for energy exchanges between Belgium and France.

Daily capacity forecasts and allocations

Available daily capacity

The data for available daily capacity can be found on the CASC.EU website.

NB: As of the execution date 1 July 2008, daily capacity is calculated using the netting (*) of yearly and monthly nominations.

Additional daily capacity through resales

The graph shows the additional daily capacity available to the market through resales of yearly and monthly capacities to the daily allocation (according to the ‘use it or sell it’ principle). In this graph, the ‘total Y + M’ is the total of capacities that can be nominated.

Additional capacity through netting

The graph below shows the additional daily capacity made available by netting (*) yearly and monthly nominations.

Net transfer capacity (NTC)

NTC is the transfer capacity forecast agreed between Elia and its neighbouring transmission system operators (TSOs) for imports and exports across Belgium’s borders. Visit Transmission capacity at borders for more information on the calculation method.

Capacity allocation

Daily capacity is allocated via CWE market coupling. In the event that market coupling is unavailable, daily capacity is offered at explicit auctions. Visit Cross-border mechanisms for more information on current mechanisms.

Use It Or Sell It (UIOSI)

‘Use It Or Sell It’ (UIOSI) is the principle whereby yearly and monthly capacity is resold to the daily allocation.

Netting (*)

Netting entails taking into account already-nominated capacity in both directions of exchange across a border. Capacity nominated in one direction will free up additional capacity in the other direction.
