Working Group System Operation

The group mainly addresses technical issues related to ancillary services, capacity calculations and the operation of the high-voltage grid.

Secure system operation is only possible through close cooperation between grid users and the transmission system operators (TSOs), because how the system behaves – especially in disturbed operating conditions – largely depends on how grid-user facilities respond to deviations from nominal voltage and frequency values. Therefore it is crucial that users and TSOs share their views on these aspects to develop appropriate technical specifications on system security.

The technical issues addressed within the group relate primarily – but not exclusively – to ancillary services, capacity calculations and the operation of the high-voltage grid.

Members of the System Operation Working Group undertake to:

  • share their opinions, thereby gaining a mutual understanding of each other's needs;
  • work together to develop a Belgian position that is based on as broad a consensus as possible.

The System Operation Working Group reports directly to the Users' Group.
