Information session on new underground cables attracts over 30 visitors

Elia, the operator of the Belgian grid, and the City of Geel held an information session on Tuesday, 13 October to provide local residents with information about the installation of new underground electricity cables in Herentals, Olen and Geel. More than 30 people attended the event, which implemented precautions to limit the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19).

Local residents learn about the Herentals-Heze project

The project will see Elia lay new 150-kV underground cables in Herentals, Olen and Geel with a view to continuing to guarantee a reliable electricity supply for businesses and households in the region. Local residents who attended the event had the chance to consult the detailed plans and put their questions to the project team. There were also information panels providing more information about the project, the work involved, the route, the measures taken to minimise disruption, and Elia's health and safety standards and guidelines.

Information session runs smoothly and safely thanks to precautions

Elia and the City of Geel took precautions to ensure that the information session ran smoothly and safely. Local residents were issued letters, had to register to attend as well as selecting a specific timeslot for their visit. Proactive communication on the measures to be observed by visitors and an animated video explaining how to minimise potential exposure to COVID-19 when attending Elia information sessions ensured that the event in Geel was safe.
