Road restored in Spendijk and Grensstraat
Elia is laying 150-kV high-voltage underground cables between Geel and Herentals. From Friday, 26 November to Friday, 17 December (inclusive), Elia will be restoring the road surface in Spendijk and Grensstraat in Geel and Olen.
Road surface to be re-asphalted following cable work in Spendijk and Grensstraat
Elia is starting asphalt repair work in Spendijk and Grensstraat on those parts of the road surface that were already surfaced in asphalt before the works. This will be done in locations where electricity cables have been laid in a trench.
On Friday, 26 November 2021 work will begin to re-lay the foundation and bottom layer of asphalt over the trench. Access to your driveway may at times be blocked while the work is in progress. The current traffic rules will continue to apply.
From Monday, 29 November to Thursday, 2 December 2021 Elia will restore the road surface in Spendijk and Grensstraat. The entire width of the road surface will be given a new layer of asphalt. The work will be carried out in two phases and will run until Thursday, 2 December 2021.
- In the first phase, the road surface in Spendijk and Grensstraat will be restored. Elia will remove the top layer over the entire width of the road surface. Local traffic will still be able to drive over the bottom layer of the road surface (Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 November 2021).
- In the second phase, Elia will lay new asphalt in Spendijk and Grensstraat. No traffic will be allowed on these roads between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. in order to let the asphalt dry, but they will be re-opened to traffic at 6 p.m. (Thursday, 2 December 2021).
Concrete road surface to be restored after cable work in Spendijk
Starting on Monday, 13 December 2021 Elia will lay new concrete over the entire width of the road surface in Spendijk, specifically in that part of the road where the surface is concrete. No traffic will be allowed on the road from Monday, 13 December to Friday, 17 December so that the concrete can dry.
Spendijk to be closed during asphalt and concrete work
No traffic will be allowed on Spendijk while the road is resurfaced with asphalt and concrete, but homes will remain accessible on foot at all times. Local residents will have to park their car outside the worksite zone at the following times:
- Traffic will not be allowed on Spendijk between Olenseweg and Haanheuvel during the asphalting work on Thursday, 2 December 2021. If you live in this part of Spendijk, please park your car outside the worksite zone on the evening of Wednesday, 1 December. The road will be re-opened to traffic at 6 p.m. on Thursday, 2 December.
- The part of Spendijk with a concrete surface be closed during the concrete work from Monday, 13 December to Friday, 17 December 2021. If you live in this part of Spendijk, please make sure that your car is parked outside the worksite zone by the evening of Sunday, 12 December. No traffic will be allowed on the road from Monday, 13 December to Friday, 17 December. The road will be re-opened to traffic at 6 p.m. on Friday, 17 December. All homes will remain accessible on foot at all times.
