Installation of underground power cables in Ter Varentstraat
Starting on 3 May 2021, Elia will begin laying 15-kV underground power cables between the Mortsel high-voltage substation and the Agfa-Gevaert site. This is necessary in order to continue ensuring a reliable supply of electricity for Agfa-Gevaert.
Work in Ter Varentstraat to start in May 2021
From Monday, 3 May to Friday, 4 June Elia will be laying underground power cables in Ter Varentstraat in Mortsel. A trench will be dug in the road surface in which the cables will be laid. This will be done on the side of the street with even house numbers. Once the work is finished, the trench will be refilled and the road surface restored. If everything goes according to schedule the project will run until 4 June 2021.
Temporary change in traffic rules
Traffic from Dieseghemlei to Ter Varentstraat will follow a local diversion via Dieseghemlei, Theofiel Reynlaan and Bloemenlei. Ter Varentstraat will temporarily have one-way traffic: traffic coming from Bloemenlei and the side streets Berthoutstraat, Kunstambachtslaan, Jaak Blockxstraat and Ten Dorpelei will only be able to turn towards Dieseghemlei.
A temporary parking ban will be in effect in the entire site zone. Residents will be requested to park their cars outside the site zone or in their driveways. Driveways will remain accessible during the project.
