Red Zones
Each day Elia determines the “Red Zones” as part of the management of congestion risks for the Belgian grid.
Below tables indicate the level of congestion risks in the electrical zones
Incremental red zones
Decremental red zones

Legend
-
Incremental red zoneAn incremental red zone indicates a congestion risk if the net injection in the zone would increase. The increase of net injection in the zone is limited depending on the risk severity.
-
Decremental red zoneA decremental red zone indicates a congestion risk if the net injection in the zone would decrease. The decrease of net injection in the zone is limited depending on the risk severity.
-
Risk severity
Risk severity shows the level of the congestion risk.
- An empty circle implies that there is no congestion risk: therefore no limitation is set on changes in net injection.
- A half red circle implies that there is a congestion risk: the change of net injection in the zone is limited to the value of the Cap.
- A full red circle implies that there is a congestion risk: the net injection in the zone may not change in the concerned direction (Cap = 0 MW).
-
Cap (MW)The Cap indicates the acceptable change in net injection that would not increase the level of the congestion risk.
