Stevin project gets the go-ahead in Bruges

The Bruges city authorities have given their seal of approval to high-voltage grid operator Elia's plans to upgrade the power grid running through its territory. To this effect both parties have signed a settlement agreement wich will be submitted to the City Council.

The agreement is a crucial step towards the realisation of a new high-voltage line between Zeebrugge and Zomergem. The Stevin project, as it is known, has a key role to play in ensuring the future supply of electricity for both Belgium in general and the coastal region in particular.
