Elia, Eandis and Wind aan de Stroom team up to promote smart wind energy in the Port of Antwerp
An innovative research project promoting smart technologies that allow wind turbines to be connected to the power grid as efficiently as possible will be launched in the Port of Antwerp next year. The project primarily aims to ensure that connections are made as fast as possible at the lowest possible cost for society.
For this project supporting wind energy, Elia is teaming up with Wind aan de Stroom (the exclusive project developer for wind energy on the Left Bank of the River Scheldt in the Port of Antwerp) and energy distribution system operator Eandis, with six of the new wind turbines to be constructed in the first phase of the project in the Port of Antwerp already taking part in the pilot in 2015.
