ENTSO-E PUBLISHES ITS TEN-YEAR NETWORK DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2016 FOR EUROPE
Transmission system operators in 34 European countries cooperated with ENTSO-E, contributing their unique expertise to develop the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP 2016). In its plan, ENTSO-E describes how the European electricity grid will be developed for the ten coming years.
The transmission projects in the plan are key enablers of the EU’s climate and energy policy objectives of decarbonisation, competitiveness and security of supply. The transmission projects are thus indispensable to achieving the EU’s energy policy objectives of 27% RES integration and 40% of CO2 reduction by 2030 as well as 10% interconnections by 2020.
Following the launch of the draft TYNDP 2016 package, ENTSO-E has opened a public consultation period extending from 23 June to 9 September 2016, requesting all interested parties to submit their comments via the consultation page on its website. With a view to improving the plan, ENTSO-E will carefully consider and give its response to every comment received.
