Products & Services

Elia offers its customers a wide array of products and services, ranging from grid connection to purchases of green certificates and project research.

All our products and services are set out in detail in product sheets, which are available online or can be ordered as a hard copy on the ‘Product sheets’ page.

Grid users and balance

Are you a generator or an industrial player wanting to connect your facilities to the high-voltage grid? Then you will need to sign a connection contract and an access contract with Elia. You can find all the information you need about this on the ‘Connection’ page and on the ‘Access’ page.

Keeping a continuous balance between generation and consumption is one of Elia’s main tasks. A number of strategies are used to achieve this. For example, an Access Responsible Party (ARP) is designated for each grid access point, imbalance tariffs can be applied, and balancing mechanisms have been developed. The ‘Balance’ page provides comprehensive information about this. The ancillary services are also involved in this continuous drive to ensure the balance of the grid. You will find more information about this on the ‘Ancillary services’ page.

Exchanges and metering of energy

Exchanges of energy at national borders make use of cross-border mechanisms. Have a look at the ‘Cross-border mechanisms’ page for more details. Exchanges of energy on the grid are recorded every quarter of an hour using special meters (see 'Metering' page).

Green certificates and the rational use of energy

For full details of the procedure for selling green certificates to Elia, see the ‘Green certificates’ page.

In Flanders, the Rational Use of Energy (RUE) action plan gives customers the chance to apply for subsidies for installing specific systems. For full details, see the ‘RUE action plan’ page.
