GDV= the gross Downward regulation Volume, i.e. the sum of all downward regulation actions requested by Elia in a given quarter-hour;
GUV= the gross Upward regulation Volume, i.e. the sum of all upward regulation actions requested by Elia in a given quarter-hour;
NRV= the net Regulation Volume in a given quarter-hour, equal to the difference between the gross upward regulation volume and the gross downward regulation volume.

MIP = the highest price of all upward activated products for the quarter-hour in question;
MDP= the lowest price of all downward activated products for the quarter-hour in question;
NRV= the net regulation volume in a given quarter-hour, equal to the difference between the gross upward regulation volume and the gross downward regulation volume:

  • If this is positive, the MIP is applied in the tariff for balancing energy.
  • If this is negative, the MDP is applied in the tariff for balancing energy.

Important disclaimer: When the strategic reserve volume that is activated is bigger than 0 MW, in the prices table the columns MIP, IGCC+, R2+, Bids+, R3+, MDP, IGCC-, R2- and Bids- will not be used for the calculation of the imbalance prices, when a activation of strategic reserve is on-going. The imbalance price will be in the column with the SR. To understand how those imbalances prices are calculated during a SR activation, please consult § 6.7.2 of the Functioning Rules.

Balancing

Both the quarter-hourly price and the quarter-hourly volume are given for each product category (if the product was actually used). Only regulation-related measures requested by Elia with a view to offsetting imbalances in the control area are included.

Prices

The prices given on this page are:

  • the highest price Elia paid during the quarter-hour in question in the case of upward regulation;
  • the lowest price Elia received during the quarter-hour in question in the case of downward regulation

A new method for calculating the tariff for balancing energy has been used since 1 January 2012.

Product categories

IGCC -         exports to neighbouring Transmission system operators in case of positive imbalances
IGCC + imports from neighbouring Transmission system operators in case of negative imbalances

R2-

secondary reserves activated downwards

R2+

secondary reserves activated upwards

Bids-

non-contracted regulation reserves activated downwards

Bids+

non-contracted regulation reserves activated upwards

R3-

tertiary reserves activated downwards (emergency contracts with neighbouring transmission system operators)

R3+

tertiary reserves activated upwards (tertiary reserves for generation and offtake, and emergency contracts with neighbouring transmission system operators)

SR
