New public consultation launched on the environmental permit

Elia applied for an environmental permit and organised a public consultation at the end of 2021. However, at the request of the Agentschap voor Natuur en Bos (ANB), the Flemish government agency responsible for nature and forests, an additional justification was added to the environmental impact report (EIR), meaning that the whole process had to start again from the beginning. 

The public consultation will run from 28 January 2022 up to and including 26 February 2022. You can consult the application at the town halls of the municipalities involved or via the omgevingsloket, the Flemish government's digital environment platform.

New application for an environmental permit 

In late 2021, Elia submitted an application for an environmental permit. A public consultation was organised in the municipalities concerned. However, the ANB requested that an additional justification be added to the EIR. Although the content of the permit application has not changed, the entire process still has to start again from the beginning. 

Public consultation 

On 13 January 2022, Elia submitted the new version of the permit application (OMV_ 2021023413) to upgrade the existing high-voltage line. The Flemish authorities declared the application complete and admissible on 18 January 2022. The public consultation in the municipalities of Kruibeke, Temse, Bornem, Puurs-Sint-Amands, Buggenhout, Londerzeel, Merchtem, Asse and Dilbeek will start on 28 January 2022 and will run until 26 February 2022 inclusive.

Consult the permit application 

The public consultation has been announced on the websites of the municipalities concerned and via yellow posters along the route. During the consultation, you will be able view the entire application via the Flemish government's omgevingsloket or at the town halls of all the municipalities concerned, namely Kruibeke, Temse, Bornem, Puurs-Sint-Amands, Buggenhout, Londerzeel, Merchtem, Asse and Dilbeek.
