A serene dialogue with Revolth
Elia's teams had constructive exchanges with the Revolth residents' association, which has always opposed our Hainaut Loop project.
This constructive dialogue results from an initiative by the new Minister of Territorial Planning, François Desquesnes, aiming to involve stakeholders in the project—a goal shared by the Walloon government and officially stated in the Regional Policy Declaration of the new majority.
The objective of this dialogue was not to reach a consensus on the project, but to align stakeholders by transparently addressing the needs to be met, potential technologies, as well as the timelines and costs associated with the different possible solutions.
Over eight meetings, our teams were able to exchange views on these topics, while testing the technological solution proposed by the Revolht collective, notably in terms of costs, planning, and reliability. We also had the opportunity to advocate for our own solution and the Hainaut Loop project as a whole—an essential project for the energy future of the Hainaut region, as well as for the entire Belgian network.
With the meetings now concluded, the administration—responsible for their organization and moderation—is currently drafting a final report aimed at summarizing all discussions, findings, and conclusions. Once this report is submitted, it will be up to the Minister to inform Elia of the additions to be made to the file, with a view to modifying the Sector Plan in the coming months.
The project team remains more than ever determined and willing to continue discussions, both with the Minister and with Revolht, to address the conditions for the concrete implementation of the project.
