Directional drilling to start in Spendijk in late April

Elia is laying new 150-kV underground cables between Geel and Herentals. The work will start in Spendijk in late April and will last one week.

Directional drilling in Spendijk

On 26 April 2021 Elia began directional drilling operations in Spendijk underneath the intersection with Olenseweg and Larumseweg. Afterwards, the drilling holes will be sealed and the road surface temporarily restored. The work will last around one week and is being done in preparation for phase 5, when Elia will dig an open trench in the road to lay the electricity cables. Local residents will be able to access their homes at all times during the works.

Spendijk closed, through traffic diverted

During the works, Spendijk will be closed at the intersection with the Olenseweg and Larumseweg. Through traffic will be diverted. Traffic on Olenseweg and Larumseweg will not be disrupted during the works. Local traffic will still be able to proceed towards Spendijk.
