    Unique archaeological artefacts in the vicinity of Gasthuishoeven in Morstel

    Since April 2020, Elia has been working on a new underground electricity cable (150 kV) between the high-voltage substations in Mortsel and Zurenborg. This power cable replaces the current connection that has reached the end of its service life. An archaeological survey carried out as part of the project revealed some exceptional artifacts from the Roman period.

    Cable work on Saffierstraat postponed to 2021

    Elia is laying a new underground electricity cable between Mortsel and Zurenborg. This is necessary because the existing cable has reached the end of its service life and must be decommissioned soon. Work on Saffierstraat was scheduled to begin in October but the cable work has been postponed due to the various measures enacted to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.

    Work begins on Saffierstraat in Mortsel

    Elia, the Belgian high-voltage system operator, will soon start working on Saffierstraat in Mortsel to lay a new underground electricity cable below the road surface as part of the Mortsel-Zurenborg project.
