News Wilsele-Pellenberg-Tienen

The high-voltage line (70 kV) between Pellenberg and Tienen has been fully dismantled. The overhead line had come to the end of its service life and was therefore dismantled.

As from 7 February, Elia is restarting the dismantling of the high-voltage line between Pellenberg and Tienen. According to the adjusted schedule, the works are planned to last until the summer. The high-voltage line has reached the end of its life. Elia will remove the wires and high-voltage pylons over a distance of 11 km.

On 15 November Elia will begin dismantling the overhead line between Pellenberg and Tienen. The line has reached the end of its life. Elia will remove the wires and high-voltage pylons over a distance of 11 km. The work will run until June 2022.  

Elia finished laying two 70-kV underground cables between Wilsele and Pellenberg in late 2020. The new underground connection will ensure a reliable supply of electricity in the Leuven area. In autumn 2021, Elia will start dismantling the overhead line between Pellenberg and Tienen, which can be decommissioned thanks to the new cable connection.

On Monday 17 December, Elia organised an information session at Ontmoetingscentrum Genadedal on the work scheduled as part of the Wilsele-Pellenberg cable project.

Elia is organising an information session for local residents on the laying of the underground cable route between the high-voltage substation in Wilsele and a transition substation being built on the border between Kessel-Lo and Pellenberg.

As part of this project, in October 2018 Elia will begin building a new transition substation at Wimmershofpad on Lange Lostraat in Pellenberg.

Elia obtained the environmental permit for the Wilsele-Pellenberg project in July 2018.
