Road restoration work begins at Vogelzang, Steenovens, Buurtweg 43 and by the McDonalds

On 25 May Elia will start restoring the road surface following the installation of underground high-voltage cables. 

This will be done in Vogelzang, Steenovens, Buurtweg 43 (between Poiel and Velveken) and the intersection between Antwerpseweg and Vogelzang by the McDonalds.  The work will be carried out in multiple phases and will last until Thursday 3 June. 

Restoration of road surface after cable work

The road surface will be restored in Vogelzang, Steenovens, Buurtweg 43 (between Poiel and Velveken) and at the intersection between Antwerpseweg and Vogelzang by the McDonalds. This will be done only in streets where electricity cables were laid in a trench. 

• Tuesday 25 May up to and including Friday 28 May 2021

The road surface will be restored in Vogelzang. This will be done only above the trench where cables where laid. Only at this location will the clinker in Vogelzang be restored. There will be no change in traffic rules while the work is in progress. Access to driveways on the trench side may be temporarily disrupted during the work.

• Monday 31 May up to and including Thursday 3 June 2021 

The road surface in Steenovens, Buurtweg 43 (between Poiel and Velveken) and the intersection between Antwerpseweg and Vogelzang by the McDonalds will be restored. The entire width of the road surface will be given a new layer of asphalt. The work will be carried out in three phases: 

-  In phase 1 (Monday, 31 May 2021) a foundation and bottom layer of asphalt will be applied. This will be done only above the trench where the cables where laid. The roads will remain open to local traffic by the worksite zone while work is in progress.

-  In phase 2 (Wednesday, 2 June 2021) the contractor will remove the current top layer. This will be done over the entire width of the road surface. Local traffic will still be able to drive over the bottom layer of the road surface while the work is in progress. 

 - In phase 3 (Thursday, 3 June 2021) the contractor will apply the new asphalt. It will not be possible to drive on the road in these streets between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. since the asphalt must dry. These roads will reopen to traffic at 6 p.m.
