Directionaldrilling in Zavelheide starts on 15 September

Elia is laying high-voltage (150-kV) underground cables between Geel and Herentals and will carry out directional drilling operations in Zavelheide starting on 15 September. The project will last four weeks.

Directional drilling in Zavelheide

On Wednesday, 15 September 2021, Elia will start directional drilling operations from the end of Zavelheide in Herentals, towards Zavelbosstraat. Elia will then dig a trench in the road surface in order to lay the high-voltage cables. Businesses will remain accessible at all times while the work is in progress. Access will be preserved as much as possible. Any disruptions will be temporary and communicated in advance. Directional drilling should last about 4 weeks.

Traffic remains possible

While the work is in progress, over a 250-metre stretch of road Elia will occupy half of the lane for traffic coming from Zavelbosstraat. Traffic to and from local businesses will be controlled via traffic lights.
