Changed traffic situation at Klaverhei and Vogelzang in Geel from the beginning of March to the end of April 2021 

From 1 March 2021, Elia will be laying underground high-voltage cables in Geel. This will take place in Doornboomstraat, Leeks, Sint-Kristoffelstraat, Klaverhei and Vogelzang. The traffic situation will change during the works in Klaverhei and between Vogelzang and Antwerpseweg (N19). Homes in the construction zone remain accessible at all times. Through traffic will be diverted via Wolfsbossen and Vogelzang. The works will take approximately 2 months. 

Laying underground cables 

From 1 March 2021, the Engie Solutions contractor will be laying underground high-voltage cables in Doornboomstraat, Leeks, Sint-Kristoffelstraat, Klaverhei and Vogelzang. The high-voltage cables will be laid under the roadway. The road surface will then be repaired. Houses will remain accessible during the works. According to the current planning, the works will take approximately 2 months. 

Traffic diversions 

Between Klaverhei and Vogelzang a borehole will be dug under the Antwerpseweg (N19). The traffic situation will change during the works: 

The Klaverhei will be closed off. This is between the Sint-Kristoffelstraat and the Antwerpseweg. Through traffic in both directions will be diverted via Wolfsbossen. 

  • The crossing between Vogelzang and Antwerpseweg is closed. The entrance of the McDonalds remains accessible. Through traffic in both directions is diverted via Vogelzang
  • Traffic via Antwerpseweg (N19) will not be affected by these works.
