Demolition of high-voltage line between Haagstraat and Breestraat

As from Monday, 14 March 2022, the contractor Omexom will demolish the high-voltage line (70 kV) between Haagstraat in Dendermonde and Breestraat in the direction of Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde . The high-voltage line is at the end of its service life and is being taken out of service. This is being done on behalf of Elia. During the works, the electricity supply in the region will remain guaranteed.

Preparatory work 

From Monday 14 March 2022, protective frames (wooden constructions) will be placed along the roads and near buildings. In addition, some preparatory work will be carried out in the high-voltage pylons. The works will take a total of approximately 1 to 2 days per pylon, affecting the following streets. 
The contractor will carry out these preparations around the high-voltage pylons in Breestraat, Hertsgaard, Resedalaan, Moeskouterlaan and Heirbaan. Traffic on these streets will be diverted for a short period of time. 

  • n Breestraat, a parking ban will be in force at the location of the high-voltage pylon.
  • In Hertsgaard, the lane will be completely closed at house numbers 2, 4, 5 and 7. Through traffic will follow a diversion via Breestraat and Karel Hofmanstraat.
  • In Resedalaan, the lane will be partially closed on the side of even house numbers at house numbers 24 to 34. Traffic will be able to pass through in turns via 1 lane. 
  • In Moeskouterlaan, the lane will be partially closed on the side of the even house numbers at number 2 to 4. Traffic will be able to pass through in turns via 1 lane.
  • Heirbaan will be completely closed to all traffic during the night of 23 March between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic in the direction of Lebbeke will follow a diversion via Leopoldlaan (N47) and Mechelsesteenweg (N17). Traffic in the direction of Dendermonde will follow a diversion via Rijksweg (N41). Cyclists will follow a local diversion via the signposts indicated.

Removal of electrical wires 

From Monday 28 March 2022, the contractor will start removing the electrical wires from the high-voltage line. These works will last up to and including Friday 8 April 2022.  During the works, the following changed traffic situations will apply:

  • Dalialaan, Begonialaan, Tulpenlaan and Rozenlaan will be completely closed at the intersections with Resedalaan and there will also be a parking ban in the car park at Resedalaan 1. Through traffic there will follow a diversion via Breestraat, Basiel De Cockplein, H. Vandemeulebrouckeplein and Oud Strijdersplein . 
  • The protective frames in place, with the exception of those on Heirbaan, will be removed between 4 and 8 April with the same period of inconvenience as for the installation (1-2 days per pylon).
  • The frames on Heirbaan will again be removed at night during the same period, between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m, while the road is completely closed.

For safety reasons, everyone will be asked not to pass under the electrical wires or to park vehicles below when the electrical wires are rolled up.
