Last phase in the dismantling of the high-voltage line

In early April, Elia started to take down the electrical wires and dismantle the high-voltage pylons between the high-voltage substations of “Baasrode” and “Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde”. The high-voltage line has reached the end of its service life, which is why it is being dismantled. In August, Elia will dismantle the last pylons in the Bellebroek nature reserve.

Laying of new underground cables

After the dismantling of this overhead line, Elia will start laying the underground cables that connect the high-voltage substations of Sint-Gillis-Dendermonde and Baasrode from early 2023. They are needed to prepare the region for the energy transition. In this way, Elia can continue to guarantee energy supply in the future.
