More than 60 people attend information sessions in Beveren

Two information sessions for the Brabo III project were held on 29 and 30 September, entirely in accordance with the precautions for combating the coronavirus (COVID-19). More than 60 local residents visited the information session to find out about the project.

Brabo III project

As part of the Brabo III project, Elia is upgrading the existing overhead line between Liefkenshoek and Mercator (Kruibeke) from 150kV to 380kV. This will strengthen the backbone of the Belgian electricity grid. Over a distance of 19 kilometres, the 58 high-voltage pylons will be replaced by a new type that looks almost exactly like the existing pylons. In addition, two underground cable connections are being constructed. To explain more about the project, Elia organised two information session in Beveren and Haasdonk.

Information sessions with precautions

To explain the Brabo III project to local residents, Elia held two information sessions in Beveren and Haasdonk. To ensure that everything runs as safely as possible, Elia defined the appropriate precautions together with the municipal authorities. Thanks to mandatory registrations and clear communication ahead of time it was possible to hold the information sessions safely. Residents were first given a general explanation about the project and then had a chance to have a conversation and ask questions at the meeting tables provided for this purpose.

Interactive map app

The attendees were able to use an interactive map app to easily move around the project area. Zooming in on landmarks opens panoramic visualisations, in which the current situation can be compared with the future situation by means of a 360° image.
