Boucle de l’Est link re-energised

An indispensable part of the high-voltage grid, the Boucle de l'Est (East Loop) is re-energised each year to cope with the winter peak.

Although some adjustments had to be made to the schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boucle de l'Est was powered up this year on 23 December. This important step will help guarantee security of supply in the region during this period.

The link will be taken out of service again on 1 February 2021, after which work will continue to dismantle the current pylons and lift new supports into place as part of the upgrading of the line from 70 kV to 110 kV, due to be completed in 2023.
