Progress of works

Despite the constraints imposed by the coronavirus pandemic, important stages in the Gouy-Monceau project have been completed:
  • The A line (which will be retained) was successfully upgraded. This step was necessary in order to extend its service life so that the second line could then be dismantled.
  • The preparatory work for the dismantling of the B line was also successfully completed.

Now the conductors in the B line can be removed. This stage will start very soon and will run until July 2021. The pylons and their foundations will be dismantled in 2022.

The Gouy-Monceau project will optimise the existing overhead lines (70-244- IS 371 and 70.243- IS365) between the Gouy-les-Piétons (Courcelles) and Monceau (Charleroi) substations. The voltage level will remain the same and the lines will continue contributing to the region's security of supply
