End of cable works around the high-voltage substation

We have successfully completed our cable works around the Aalst high-voltage substation.

As a system operator, we have been working on modernising the Aalst high-voltage substation for some time. Last summer, we started around the high-voltage substation with the replacement of five obsolete underground cables (15kV) with one underground cable (70kV).

After laying the cables, work was carried out on the connection pits, where the new cables will be connected.

The works went smoothly, and have been fully completed since last week. To thank local residents for their understanding during the works, we treated the entire neighbourhood to French fries.

High-voltage substation works

The works on the high-voltage substation are progressing: this summer the high voltage pylon at the AIS bay will be demolished, then the AIS bay will also be demolished and the new GIS high-voltage substation will be finished.

All work should be completed by the end of 2026.
