Directional drilling on Victor Mertensstraat 

Elia is starting the laying of underground electricity cables between Buizingen and Oisquercq. The works are being carried out by means of directional drilling. This was decided in consultation with the city of Halle and the contractor to minimise hindrance as much as possible. The works will start on Tuesday 7 June on Victor Mertensstraat.

Underground drilling

On Tuesday 7 June, the contractor will start the underground drilling. This drilling starts at the corner of Octave de Kerchove d’Exaerdestraat and Victor Mertensstraat and goes under Octave de Kerchove d’Exaerdestraat to Pallieterweidestraat. Pipes are again being welded for this drilling. On Tuesday 7 and Wednesday 8 June, the passage to the driveways of the houses from Octave de Kerchove d’Exaerdestraat to house number 17 for the odd numbered houses on Victor Mertensstraat will not be possible.

Minimising disruption 

Elia and the contractor are making every effort to minimise the disruption.

• The footpath remains accessible
•  The road is accessible by bicycle in both directions.
• Victor Mertensstraat is only accessible for cars from Hoogveld to Octave de Kerchove d’Exaerdestraat. 
• There is a parking ban in the zone between Hoogveld and Octave de Kerchove d’Exaerdestraat until the end of the works (around Friday 10 June 2022, except for unforeseen circumstances).
• During the works, the waste collection remains as planned.
