Application for amendment of environmental permit and Natura 2000 permit

On 1 April 2024, the construction of Princess Elisabeth Island started on the basis of the Ministerial Decree of 26 September 2023. At the end of September 2025, we applied for an amendment to this ministerial decree.

Alternative landing method

On 1 April 2024, construction of the Princess Elisabeth Island started. The legal basis for this is the ministerial decree of 26 September 2023. This decree grants us authorization for the installation, an operating permit, and a Natura 2000 license for the Modular Offshore Grid 2 in the sea areas under Belgian jurisdiction.

In September 2025, we applied for a change to this ministerial decree. The reason is that we will use an alternative landfall method for the export cables, with access channels and turning basins in the coastal zone near Blankenberge/Zeebrugge. This technique was not yet included in the above-mentioned environmental permit and Natura 2000 license and is therefore subject to an additional environmental impact assessment procedure.
