New underground connection between Ruien and Chièvres: start of a new phase of works

Starting from 1 September 2025, we will launch a new phase of works on the Provincial Road N48, as part of the replacement of the 150 kV overhead electrical link between Ruien and Chièvres with an underground connection. This project is essential to strengthen the electricity supply security in the region.

The works will be carried out in several phases, between Chemin du Harby and Rue Jeaurieux, according to the following schedule:

Phase 1 (01/09 – 13/10): Trench works between junctions J13 and J14, cable pulling and partial road restoration (approx. 350 m).
Phase 2 (13/10 – 17/10): Complete road restoration and start of works between J14 and J15 (approx. 550 m).
Phase 3 (20/10 – 19/12): Trench works and cable pulling between J14 and J15, road restoration (approx. 350 m).
Phase 4 (03/12 – 19/01): Connection of junction J14 and final restoration.

During the first phase, traffic will be regulated by traffic lights over about 350 meters south of Chemin du Harby. A detour will also be put in place.

Minimising disruptions as much as possible

The project has received all the necessary permits (planning permission, road authorisation, declaration of public utility) and is monitored by the municipality of Celles.

Works will be carried out during the day (7 a.m. – 7 p.m.). Access to homes, businesses, and agricultural land will be guaranteed. In exceptional cases, residents will be informed in advance. Electricity supply will be ensured throughout the duration of the construction.
