Public consultation on the methodology, hypotheses and data sources for the dimensioning of the volumes of strategic reserve needed for winter 2021-2022

Today, Wednesday 3rd June 2020, Elia launches a public consultation on the methodology, hypotheses and data sources for determining the volume of strategic reserves for the winter 2021-22.

This public consultation is organised in the context of the yearly process of the volume determination of strategic reserve, as described in the Article 7bis of the Law of 29 April 1999 concerning the organisation of the electricity market (‘Electricity Act’).

The analysis by Elia concerns the need for the winter 2021-22 and an indication for the winters 2022-23 and 2023-24. Elia is committed to provide market parties and relevant stakeholders with a full understanding of the methodology and the data which will be used for the calculation of the necessary volume of strategic reserve.

This public consultation is composed of the 3 following documents:

  • Main consultation document
  • Market Response methodology
  • Total Electricity Demand Forecasting

Stakeholders are invited to submit their comments and suggestions during a period of four weeks between June 3 2020 until July 1 2020 at 18h00.
