Public Consultation on the CREG Incentive Future Grid Restoration
Theme
Elia is organizing a public consultation regarding the CREG Incentive Future Grid Restoration.
Context
Between May 2024 and October 2025, Elia conducted an in-depth study on the feasibility of restoring the Belgian electricity grid by 2035–2050, as part of the CREG “Future Grid Restoration” incentive.
At the request of CREG, this study is based on an evolving electricity system characterized by increasing electrification, a decline in conventional generation, and a growing share of renewable energy and batteries. The objective is to identify effective and reliable solutions for grid restoration in this context, while anticipating potential technical, economic, and regulatory challenges.
Period
Elia invites all stakeholders to submit their comments and suggestions on the document under consultation.
The consultation is open from October 14 to November 30, 2025.
After the consultation period, Elia will collect all comments and feedback from market participants. Elia will analyze these inputs and incorporate them into a consultation report, including Elia’s responses. In addition to the consultation report, Elia will publish the reactions of market participants (including names) on its website, unless it is explicitly stated that the contribution should be considered confidential.
