Public consultation on the voltage service and reactive power control review and recommendations for design optimisations in the framework of a CREG incentive
Elia is organizing a public consultation on the voltage service and reactive power control review and recommendations for design optimisations. This public consultation is organized in the framework of a CREG incentive for the promotion of system balance pursuant to Article 27 of the tariff methodology 2019-2023.
The goal of the incentive is to investigate how the voltage service and reactive power control could be improved to minimize the overall cost and maximize the efficiency of the service, the offered volumes and the remuneration of the service. This incentive consists of an analysis of the current MVAr service and looks to determine aspects that need to be adapted or improved. This public consultation gives Belgian Market Parties the opportunity to give their formal position on the new design proposals, of which a high-level introduction was already presented during 2 workshops before the summer period.
Elia invites all stakeholders to submit any comments and suggestions they may have on the document submitted for consultation. The consultation period runs from 28th of September to 30th of October 2023. After the consultation period, Elia will collect all comments and feedback from the market parties. Elia will analyze these comments and integrate them into a consultation report together with Elia’s responses.
In addition to the consultation report, Elia will publish the reactions of the market parties (including names) on the website, unless it is explicitly stated that the contribution is to be considered confidential. The comments will also be taken as much as possible into account in the final report that will be published on the 23rd of December 2023. The final report will include Elia’s recommendations, the consultation report and an implementation plan, if applicable.
